起点传媒 at Tuscarawas Honors Program student Markus Beachy is combining academic excellence with a passion for understanding the human experience as he pursues a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
Beachy, a junior, is deeply interested in understanding human behavior and emotional healing. His studies focus on psychology, literature and trauma recovery鈥攁reas that allow him to explore both the science and the stories behind how people grow through adversity.
鈥淚 love people and walking with them during painful seasons,鈥 Beachy said. 鈥淭herapy has been incredibly helpful in my own life, and one of my long-term goals is to work in the counseling and therapy field.鈥
In addition to his coursework, Beachy recently completed a research project on death anxiety, surveying participants and presenting his findings through a poster presentation. He has also earned recognition on both the Dean鈥檚 List and President鈥檚 List for his outstanding academic performance.
Outside the classroom, Beachy enjoys reading, good conversations, traveling and making memories with friends.
The Honors Program at Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council. The program offers academically talented students the opportunity to pursue enriched educational experiences while developing leadership skills and engaging in creative research.
The program also fosters a broad understanding of the arts and sciences, encourages excellence in academic and creative pursuits and instills a respect for cultural diversity. Through challenging courses and enriched educational experiences, students develop habits of inquiry, skills for lifelong learning and strategies for meaningful reflection.
Students are encouraged to broaden their perspectives and cultivate learning in the Honors Program through opportunities that include study abroad programs in Florence, Italy; Leicester, England; and Northern Ireland.
