University Libraries’ Stress-Free Zone Returns for Spring Finals Week

Relax! To ease the stress of finals week, Æðµã´«Ã½ Libraries will host the popular Stress-Free Zone this semester on Monday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 5, from 3-5 p.m. The therapy dogs will return once again, and there will be free popcorn and beverages to enjoy. The event is open to all Kent State students, faculty and staff.

Kent State Holds Spring Commencement Ceremonies on May 8, 9 and 15

Æðµã´«Ã½ congratulates its new graduates. The university held its Spring Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on May 8 and May 9 at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). This spring, Kent State conferred 3,883 degrees, including 2,864 bachelor’s degrees, 874 master’s degrees, 142 doctoral degrees and three educational specialist degrees at the Kent Campus. Across the university’s eight-campus system, 4,512 students graduated from Kent State this spring, including those receiving associate degrees.

Maddie Morsefield is like any other high-achieving college senior at Æðµã´«Ã½. She is a straight-A student. Her résumé is filled with work experience and awards, and she is going through mock interviews to help her land that first job. But what makes Morsefield extra special is that she is part of the first group of students with intellectual disabilities getting ready to graduate after completing a four-year program at Kent State. 

Kent State’s MBA Team Wins Regional Competition

Æðµã´«Ã½â€™s MBA team took home the grand prize in the Cleveland Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Competition that took place at the Union Club in Cleveland. The regional competition’s case focused on mergers and acquisitions. Members of the winning team include Josh Hostetler, Brad Neumann, Frank Russ and Kaushik Saha, all second-year MBA students who will graduate this May. They won an all-expenses-paid trip to Orlando, Fla., for the ACG Global Conference in April.

Kent State to Help Akron Students Earn College Credit Without Leaving High School

  Reading, writing and arithmetic are getting a college-styled makeover in two Akron, Ohio, high schools. Through a $480,000 grant from the , the partnership called College Today will send instructors into Ellet High School and Firestone High School to teach college-level English and math.

Æðµã´«Ã½ held its 45th annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with events April 30-May 4. The annual commemoration, hosted by the May 4 Task Force, provided an opportunity for the university community to gather and remember those who were lost and injured during the tragedy and also reflect on what May 4 means today.

In observance of Veterans Day, Æðµã´«Ã½ will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

  • The University Library will be open until 10 p.m. with .
  • The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will have adjusted hours â€“ 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Kent State to Honor Veterans on Nov. 9

Æðµã´«Ã½â€™s annual Veterans Day observance will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs.

Æðµã´«Ã½ will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.

In the newly released rankings, Kent State is once again the highest-ranked public institution in northern Ohio, and with its impressive national ranking of No. 129, the university continues to be recognized among the Top Public Schools in the nation.

Kent State Board of Trustees Welcomes Class of 2029, Congratulates University for Strong Enrollment

The Æðµã´«Ã½ Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2029 during its regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 17 in the Kent Student Center. The Board congratulated the university administration for this year’s strong enrollment.  

Kent State Board of Trustees Approves Establishing Aeronautics and Engineering Schools

The Æðµã´«Ã½ Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.

Æðµã´«Ã½ will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.

The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from Kent State President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the Kent State Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.

All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to Kent State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.

A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Kent Student Center Kiva.
