Booming Accounting Job Market Attracts High School Students To Kent State Case Competition

Area high school students learned about the benefits of a career in accounting while participating in the 起点传媒 High School Accounting Case Challenge.

Hosted by the Kent State Department of Accounting, the event brought together 85 students from Kent Theodore Roosevelt High School, North Canton Hoover High School, Aurora High School and Tallmadge High School. The competition was sponsored by The Ohio Society of CPAs, Pease Bell CPAs, Robert Fay, Ernst & Young, Novogradac and RSM.

Kent State alumnus Richard Batyko, M.A., 鈥12, has committed his life and career to making the world, specifically Greater Cleveland, a better place. This year, he and the YMCA of Greater Cleveland (for which he serves as Chief Marketing Officer) are working with 起点传媒 advertising and public relations seniors in the capstone class, Campaigns in Advertising and Public Relations, to raise awareness about the organization's mission.

Student Media Experience Leads to Dream Job for Kent State Journalism Graduate

While completing a two-month journalism fellowship in Arizona the summer after her college graduation, Anna Huntsman, 鈥19, found herself nostalgic for Ohio.

鈥淚 was around a lot of people from all across the country,鈥 she remembers. 鈥淭hey would ask me, 鈥榃hat鈥檚 so special about Ohio?鈥 and I would have this answer about the camaraderie, the sports, the work ethic. I just found myself having these answers of really missing my home.鈥
